Conceived in Haiti and currently living in the village of Harlem, Anoa is a watermedia artist with diverse interests and skills. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art History and African Studies and subsequently decided to pursue her interests in women's reproductive health by becoming a registered nurse and empowering new mothers as a board certified lactation consultant. She continues serving women through this field, which she loves immensely. After a major health crisis, however, she knew that making art would have to become a central part of her life. Painting on a more consistent basis became an intrinsic part of a successful self healing journey. Anoa has always had a passion for art, healing and Afrikan spirituality and explores the intersection of these subjects in her work.
The phenomena of nature that we experience in the world are within each of us. I seek to bring forth the realization of our relationship and interdependence with nature, especially the feminine principle and phenomena to awaken personal transformation. Hopefully, my work serves to edify the spirit of the viewer and foster interconnection among the diaspora, nature, our deeper selves, the seen and the unseen."
